omnioring, a webring engine iframe-powered slugless
(actually it is a heavily modded onionring fused with some unknown iframe solution, modded too, and added autodetection. but omnioring now is much less onion (onionring's core is so core like the essentials so we dunno if we can call it 'modded onionring' anymore) )
the engine for webrings members' comfort and inclusion, free plan neocities-friendly, literally one file and literally one line to embed
- iframe version!! automatic!! for real. two! ways of parent site autodetection. in most cases, it works perfectly. but if no, manual slugging exists (priority: lowest, so it'll ask 4 slug only if autodetection didn't work (also it detects !the top page! so if a member is iframed within some other page (eg. webgardens-like), the engine will try to find that other page in lists)
- window.location.host use 'stead of window.location.href (eg. nekoweb.org vs. https://nekoweb.org/home) w/host over entry priority so members can can actually submit /webrings or even ?some=settings link w/out being locked 2 it!
- did u know a plenty of onionring-powered webrings share randomSite() and many other things and u may end up being sent thru a totally diff list. iframes r isolated so it's no more a trouble!
- two lists: 4 added and [custom-message] (4 moveout/removal/etc warnings)
- hard-set css ! so it won't break. aaand members r allowed 2 change wxh of the iframe, if ur widget is flexible it is cool. fixed sizes r fine too
how to set up ur own webring. copy this
paste into some html file (preferred: omnio-iframe.html but any of ur choice) and replace links stylize the widget etc etc feel free 2 change smth but do not forget the way to here in case if u break smth. more instructions: inside
